Caption
Pygmy Nuthatches (Sitta pygmaea) are common residents of Western Coniferous forests. They are a very small nuthatch. This one, recorded at Haviland Lake, near Purgatory, Colorado, was tapping at a hole in a Ponderosa Pine and almost whispering to himself.
