The Animal Diversity Web reaches a milestone

On August 27th, 2006 the Animal Diversity Web published its 3000th animal taxon account! We continue to add content of all kinds and now also have over 11,000 images, 2758 images of museum specimens, and 724 sound files. These 3000 taxon accounts includes more than 1500 mammal species accounts, approximately %38 percent of all extant mammal species. We anticipate publishing an additional 100 animal taxon accounts by the end of 2006.
