Welcome to the new Animal Diversity Web!

We've just come on-line with a new version of the ADW.

Among the many enhancements:

  • A spiffy new look! We've re-designed our front page, making it easier to find the diversity of resources and information available in ADW. Check out the pull down menus.
  • Easy navigation among the different kinds of information available for animal groups. Look for tabs along the top of each taxon (animal group or species) page. Clicking on a tab takes you that type of information (remember that we don't have everything!).
  • A new search engine. Search results are organized by resource type (photographs, audio files, species accounts, etc.). See our search guide to start.
  • Lots of new content! We've added accounts for many families and orders of reptiles, amphibians, fish, and birds. We've also added several large collections of images, such as bird illustrations and marine organisms, and many new species accounts.
  • Our behind-the-scenes management technology is all new. This means, as we add new content, it goes online almost immediately. Please see our site management improvements for more details.

We're looking for new contributors! Now that we've improved the richness and functionality of our new database structure, and enhanced our capability to interact with different user-interfaces, we're looking for more help in expanding content. Please consider how you might contribute to the Animal Diversity Web. We are especially looking for media contributors, and for instructors of college and university classes that might participate in writing species accounts.

See our news history for previous developments.
